Brad has more than 15 years’ experience as a Physiotherapist working in the NHS in elite sport and the private practice setting serving in the role of Head of Research at Pure Sports Medicine, one of the UK leading sports medicine groups.  Brad completed his PhD investigating the influence of Lower Limb Biomechanics on the development persistence and management of patellofemoral pain in recreational runners. Brad and his colleague Dr Simon Lack are educating the therapy world on how to best manage patellofemoral pain through their collaboration Team Patellofemoral Pain.

Dr Bradley Neal will recap on what Patellofemoral Pain is, the current understanding of the aetiological drivers, differential diagnosis around the front of the knee, the top five mistakes to avoid when trying to get on top of your own patellofemoral pain or, for the therapist, the top five mistakes to avoid in treating patients with patellofemoral pain, specific tips for runners with kneecap pain.

Max Paquette is an accomplished Academic and Applied Scientist currently serving as an Associate Professor of the Human Performance Centre at the University of Memphis and the Director of the Musculoskeletal Analysis Laboratory. Max’s primary research interests have focused on the effects of different footwear, fatigue repetition, altered techniques and training interventions for injury prevention and performance improvement for runners.

Alongside Max’s academic work he's also a high endurance running coach including the coaching role with his Middle Distance Professional Runner Wife, Lauren.

Dr Tim Gabbett has over 25 years experience working as an Applied Sport Scientist with athletes and coaches from around the world. Dr Tim Gabbett's experience is multidisciplinary, but it has one central theme, and that is high performance. Tim has consulted to world leading sporting organisations and associations including the NBA, Australian Rugby League, AFL and the English Premier League. Dr Tim Gabbett holds a PhD in Human Physiology and completed a second PhD in Applied Sport Science.

Tim has published over 250 peer reviewed articles and presented over 400 national and international conferences. In a recent study of 8 million scientists published in PLOS Biology, Tim was named in the top 25 most impactful sports scientists of all time.

Dr Gabbett shares around the concepts of tissue specific loads and sports specific capacity and training, why it is that their interplay is so key for athletes looking to perform at their physical best or reduce the risk of injury. Dr Gabbett also shares around training the specialised youth athlete and considerations and a model to keep them playing. There's a growing appreciation that specialising early with adolescent athletes in sport may produce some detriments to health and performance yet, what do we do with the youth athlete who will specialise early, Dr. Tim Gabbett has the answers.

Professor Beck is an Exercise Physiologist, world renowned and revered Bone Researcher, Musculoskeletal Anatomist and self-confessed scientific myth-buster. Belinda is the Pioneer and Founder of both "The Bone Clinic" and the award winning "Onero Program and Exercise Program for Osteoporosis". Belinda is prolific in the scientific literature when it comes to the role of exercise and its effect on bone, Professor Beck's chief work goal being to develop evidence based, safe and effective management and prevention for musculoskeletal conditions such as osteoporosis, stress fractures and osteoarthritis.

In 2021, Professor Beck co-authored a narrative review titled "Risk Factors Diagnosis and Management of Bone Stress Injuries in Adolescent Athletes". It was co-authored with her colleague, Physiotherapist for the Queensland Ballet Louise Drysdale. In this episode Professor Beck discusses that paper and shares around all things bone stress injuries in the adolescent athlete.
